Children’s Bureau has been helping families in San Gabriel Valley for decades. We provide services to more than 1,000 vulnerable children and parents each year from two offices in Baldwin Park and from Northam Elementary School in La Puente. We offer a variety of prevention and direct service programs that include mental health services, NuParent groups and more.
Mental Health Services
Children’s Bureau is geared toward helping young children and their families find ways to decrease potential outbursts and violence in the home and to meet their mental health needs. Children’s Bureau provides a wide range of therapeutic treatment including a comprehensive assessment, individual child therapy, family focused therapy, group therapy, Intensive Day Treatment for Young Children, medication management, case management assistance, Therapeutic Behavioral Services, as well as assistance to the significant caretakers and support person(s) in the child’s life. Our services are culturally sensitive with a substantial focus on the Latino community. Services are provided in the home, school, office or community. Children’s Bureau utilizes a family system approach that engages the caregiver as a partner in problem solving. All treatment is customized to meet the specific needs of the child and family.
Child Abuse Prevention
The Children’s Bureau mental health team assists families develop ways to end the cycle of abuse and neglect and learn new skills to help them protect and nurture their child(ren). Programs are designed to address potential violence and negligence. Therapy and education are used to help families overcome the trauma of abuse.
Wraparound
Children’s Bureau provides a strength-based, family-centered planning process for children and families. These services are intended to help families receive the support they need to maintain stability and prevent more restrictive levels of care and institutional involvement. The Child and Family Team drives the decision making process.
