Children’s Bureau has been helping families in Los Angeles since 1904. While the organization has changed dramatically over the past one hundred years, its commitment to improving life for the underserved population has not. Our services now comprise a variety of child abuse prevention and direct service programs that include child development and parent education, family resource centers, NuParent groups, mental health services, foster care, adoption and more.

Family Resource Centers

Family Resource Centers (FRCs) are family friendly, community-based sites that provide an array of comprehensive, integrated prevention and treatment services including educational, health and recreation services. FRCs serve all families including birth, blended, kinship, adoptive and foster families. Each FRC is unique to its community and services are offered by multicultural and multilingual staff that reflect the surrounding neighborhoods and the families served.

Zero to Five Programs

Working both in the family resource center and out in the community, Children’s Bureau’s Birth to Five Programs seek to strengthen and support families with young children and the communities in which they live. We offer a variety of programs including Families, Friends and Neighbors which provides unlicensed child care provider training, school readiness programs that prepare children for kindergarten as well as parent and child enrichment programs that give families the tools they need to raise successful children.
