Super Day at Super Bowl Party
Nearly 200 family and friends enjoyed the 2009 Annual Super Bowl Party hosted by Donna Crean and family at Village Crean on February 1. There was plenty of food and beverages from In-N-Out Burger and The Villa Nova Restaurant. Generous donations were also made by Albertson’s-Huntington Beach, Hooters, Jerry’s Wood-Fired Dogs, Sabatino’s Lido Shipyard and Varsity Burgers. The silent auction featured more than 50 one-of-a-kind treasures. Congratulations to Event Chairs Janice Sindoni, James Minor and Cheri Plumley in raising over $20,000 net for our prevention programs in Orange County. Way to go Team Children’s Bureau!
Soiree with the Swans Raises Funds for Young Children

After six very successful years of “Polo in the Park,” The League for Children decided to leave the horses in the stable to celebrate with the swans! The event, called Soirée with the Swans, was held on Sunday, September 21, 2008 at the Hotel Bel- Air and was deemed a huge success by all who attended!

Master of Ceremonies Art Linkletter entertained 240 guests with his timeless jokes and lighthearted interview with Event Honoree George W. Fenimore, a longtime volunteer leader and supporter of Children’s Bureau. The sunny afternoon included cocktails by the swan pond, a beautiful garden luncheon, a silent auction with over 50 items and live jazz music by Roger Neumann and his ensemble. A palm reader and magician also wandered the crowd and dazzled them with their extraordinary skills. Mrs. Valerie Hoffman was the grand raffle prize winner of a 2008 Mini Cooper Convertible. Kudos to Elise Pasetta (along with husband Marty) and Marie Humphreys who served as co-chairs and to Barbara Knight, the patron chair.

Soirée with the Swans raised a record $169,000 net that will go towards the Child Development Center at Magnolia Place Family Center. Kindergarten readiness is a primary goal of the new Child Development Center and will provide the opportunity to prepare hundreds of children each year to enter school with the skills and knowledge they need to be successful.
