Strong Families/Strong Kids (SFSK) is a Family Preservation Program funded through the Orange County Social Service Agency. We receive all of our referrals directly from the Social Service Agency/Child Protective Services. Unlike many of the child abuse prevention programs operated by Children’s Bureau, SFSK provides child abuse intervention services. There are two main groups of clients served by family preservation. The first group are those families who are at imminent risk of having their children removed due to severe abuse/neglect. The second group are those families who have already had their children removed due to severe abuse/neglect and need help with meeting the criteria for reunification with their children. SFSK provides in-home support services that are tailored to meet the particular needs of each family. We operate 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Some of the services provided to parents and caregivers include parenting education, resource and referral linkage, household management, budgeting, domestic violence support, court advocacy, personal safety, home safety awareness, assistance with basic needs, effective personal skills and self-efficacy training and support. Some of the services provided to children include school and child care advocacy, social skills, drug and alcohol interventions, personal safety, sexual health awareness, personal empowerment and effective communication skills.
