Bridges for Newborns

Bridges for Newborns provides in-home parenting education, developmental screenings, case management, and support services to families with newborns. Services are usually provided through one year of age, though services can continue until the child is two years old. Birthing hospitals refer interested families they have screened to Children’s Bureau for home visiting services. The goals of the program are to strengthen family functioning, increase use of community resources, increase parent-child attachment, increase general parenting knowledge and skills, and promote optimal family health and child development.

Bridges for Newborns uses the Partners in Parenting Education (PIPE) curriculum and evaluates program effectiveness by employing pre- and post-surveys and tracking family outcomes. Home visitors and a registered nurse provide the in-home services. The program is housed in Anaheim and serves several cities throughout Orange County.

The Children and Families Commission of Orange County provides funding for this program.
