Children’s Bureau recognized and thanked volunteer leaders at its 105th Annual Meeting of Directors and Trustees held on June 25 at Magnolia Place Family Center in Los Angeles. More than 100 guests attended the inspirational event that included a reception, luncheon, program and tours of Magnolia Place Family Center. Elected as new directors were Mark Lemons (Private Investor), Ana Valdez (Principal, The 650 Company and Vice President, Valdez Productions) and Hope Wintner (Civic Leader). Elected as new trustees were Garrett Bland (Senior Managing Director, Bear Sterns), Damon Fisher (Partner, Kirkland & Ellis, LLP), Adam Pierce, (Vice President, Oaktree Capital Management, L.P.) and Scott Witter (Senior Vice President, City National Bank).

Furthermore, Children’s Bureau presented its “Changing the World for Children” award to Mindy and Gene Stein and their family foundation, the Tikan Olam Foundation, for their outstanding contributions to the welfare of children and parents along with their exemplary support of Children’s Bureau for many years. David Cracas (President & CoFounder, Pierpoint-Martin) was given the “Spirit of Giving” award for his generous contribution of various IT-related services including the development of various Children's Bureau-related websites and Internet communication strategies. The annual meeting program also included first-hand success stories from two Children’s Bureau mothers who have participated in the agency’s school readiness and NuParent programs.
